Arbonne Business Review
Posted by Danny Boyd
Background:
In 1975 Peter Morck materialized his idea to create, what he considered, the “premier” skin care product. By 1980 he had fulfilled his vision and Arbonne (botanical based skin care products) were launched in the US. Arbonne’s signature selling point is that as a consultant you will have access to healthy botanical products, you’ll have more time and money for your family and you’ll make a positive difference contributing to the lives of others. Arbonne’s Corporate Office is located in Irvine, CA.
Products:
Arbonne creates personal care and wellness products that preserve and enhance the skin, body and mind. These products come in the form of Anti-Aging Creams, Detox Solutions, Cosmetic, Weight-Loss and Nutritional Products. In total, Arbonne has dozens of nutritional and personal care items within its product portfolio.
Pros:
- Fairly low start-up cost of less than $30 and $100 per month
- Arbonne has great products that many claim actually work
- Business model allows you to start part-time and build toward a full-time income
- Great Leadership Team with a proven track record
- Well established with a 30 year history of sustained growth
Cons:
- Marketing strategies not very innovative, still selling like a ‘90s business in 2010
- Cannot sell online outside of the generic Arbonne website
- Selling on Amazon, eBay, Blogs, Classified Ads or Social Media is prohibited
- Must progress through 10 tiers (levels) to earn maximum commissions
- Only make between 1% - 8% overrides up to 6 levels deep
- Average consultant makes less than $2500 per year

Conclusion:
In conclusion, Arbonne has phenomenal products, great leadership and a solid history; however, in the end that is not enough to justify calling this one a sure winner. Although collectively we all love the potential here, the fact that as a Consultant, you are prohibited from utilizing the number one marketing vehicle known to man [The Internet] drastically limits your chances of building as wide and deep as you may within other opportunities.
